A Brief History
Kappa Alpha Psi, a college Fraternity now comprised of functioning undergraduate and alumni chapters on major campuses and in cities throughout the country, is the crystallization of a dream. It is the beautiful realization of a vision shared commonly by the late Revered Founders Elder Watson Diggs, John Milton Lee, Byron K. Armstrong, Guy Levis Grant, Ezra D. Alexander; Henry T. Asher, Esq., Dr. Marcus P. Blakemore, Paul W. Caine, Edward G. Irvin and George W. Edmonds.
It was the vision of these astute men that enabled them in the school year 1910 – 11, more specifically the night of January 5, 1911, on the campus of Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana....
2nd Annual Healthy Kappa Walk
Our annual walk helps build awareness and promote the importance of good health in our community. In addition to the activity it had education, resources and the activity all rolled into the one event. Support from Mayor Shannon Glover of Portsmouth, NSU, H.U. School of Nursing, Bon Secours, Portsmouth Mental Health, Onelife Fitness, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the Pan Hellenic Council, as well as donated refreshments—all contributed to another successful year!
Kappa Community Support
The Brothers of the Portsmouth-Suffolk Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc, participated in a successful Voter Registration drive in Suffolk VA, hosted by the Suffolk Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority Inc.
Members of the Portsmouth/Suffolk Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc proudly participated with the Portsmouth chapter of the National Pan Hellenic Council [NPHC] for the 21st Annual Councilman LeOtis Williams Turkey Giveaway in Suffolk. It was a great turnout with city officials of Suffolk and other volunteers pitching in to assist individuals and families by giving away over 1,000 turkeys during the Thanksgiving Holiday.
