Kappas took Silhouettes out on the town to enjoy the Theatre at Norfolk State University’s Production of “Once on This Island”, and then to a delicious Dinner at Amber Lantern Restaurant in Chesapeake, Virginia.  See photo above of Kappas and Silhouettes in attendance at the Valentine’s Day gathering.  The ladies were also given a box of candy from their special Kappa.  The evening was a great time of fellowship with the members of the Portsmouth/Suffolk (VA) Silhouette and Kappa Alpha Psi Chapters.

In October 2018, we had our annual Day of Service activity at Olive Branch Pre-School where the Silhouettes read stories to each class of preschoolers.  Later, in October we assisted the students to dress in their school-made costumes in preparation for the Fall Festival Parade.  This parade included the school staff and students marching around the school building playing small instruments, while the members of the community watched and cheered.

Silhouette Dr. Saundra Copeland participated in the Health Fair at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU). She gave a presentation and distributed packets with information on Safe Sleep, as well as books encouraging Early Literacy.  The Portsmouth/Suffolk (VA) Silhouette Chapter donated books for the packets.

At the Silhouettes’ Holiday Social in December, we shared a warm and cozy setting with our Kappa men at the lovely home of Kappa Dr. Winston and Silhouette Sandra Odom. It was a beautiful and festive way to kick off the holiday.  Everyone relaxed and enjoyed delicious foods, friendships and fun with holiday games, songs and fellowship in a special way.

Message from the Polemarch

Our chapter will always be committed to Achievement in every field of human endeavor, and I am committed to be the leader that will lead through ACTIONS and not just words. I want to forge stronger alliances with other members of the Divine 9, so that we can maximize our efforts to be a potent force in the community using innovative technology, creative ideas, and an unswerving fidelity to each other."
